I service all pre-war (1900 – 1941) LIONEL trains and accessories. Many pre-war locomotives were made with pot metal wheels, frames, or bodies which have decayed over the years. I stock new, replacement locomotive wheels and various other parts for most pre-war locomotives. Additionally, I have access to a supply of new, replacement frames for some, but not all, pre-war locomotives. It must be noted that these frames can be expensive and the total cost of the repair can exceed the book value of the item. LIONEL also used rubber insulated wires in most of their early trains. The rubber insulation dried up and decayed over time leaving exposed wiring. To prevent a possible short circuit or fire hazard, all pre-war trains and accessories should be inspected prior to use.

Lionel Post War Transformers

I service all post war (1946 – 1969) LIONEL trains and accessories and stock an extensive supply of new reproduction and original LIONEL replacement parts. Early post-war trains are approaching 70 years old. In some cases they have been stored for decades under poor conditions; in attics; damp basements; sheds; etc. To prevent damage to your trains they should be properly serviced prior to use.

I service most MPC/FUNDIMENTIONS (1970 – 1989) trains and accessories. I stock new reproduction and original replacement parts, as available. These trains are approaching 50 years old. Again, in some cases they have been stored for decades under poor conditions; in attics; damp basements; sheds; etc. To prevent damage to your trains they should be properly serviced prior to use.

LIONEL used rubber insulated power cords on most of their post-war transformers. These power cords have a tendency to harden and crack, no matter how carefully they have been stored. These cracked power cords will leave bare wires that are ultimately plugged into a 110 volt receptacle. Along with the obvious safety hazard this exposes a likely fire hazard. Your transformers should be inspected prior to use and have the power cord replaced if necessary. Keep in mind that even though the cord looks fine on the outside it can be damaged inside the transformer. Another caution should be, don’t replace just the plug with a hardware store replacement. The entire power cord should be replaced by a qualified repair person. The safety of you, your family, and your residence should be a priority.

Pre-War and Post War Trains & Accessories

I service the full line of MARX trains and accessories. I do stock a limited supply of MARX parts. There is a very limited supply of MARX reproduction parts available, however I do have a decent supply of MARX trains that I “cannibalize” as necessary.

If you have LIONEL trains that you are interested in selling, any condition, please contact me. I pay a fair price based on the latest book values and recent sales.

"Two years ago, I inherited my grandfather's massive Lionel train collection. Many of the trains didn't run, and a whole bunch were missing parts. I brought my grandfather's trains to Steve, and he got every single train and accessory working beautifully. He even had the missing parts my collection needed. I can't thank you enough, Steve!"
